USE

This combination medication can be used in conjunction with a proper diet and exercise program to control hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes can also reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke. This product contains 2 drugs: Alogliptin and Metformin. Alogliptin works by increasing a natural substance called incretin. Enterostatin helps control blood sugar by increasing the release of insulin, especially after meals. They also reduce the sugar produced by the liver. The role of metformin is to help restore the body's proper response to naturally-produced insulin. It also reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver and absorbed by the stomach/intestines.

Follow your doctor’s instructions to take this medication by mouth, usually two meals a day. Unless your doctor instructs otherwise, drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine. The manufacturer instructs not to split, break or cut the tablet before disassembling the tablet. However, many similar drugs (immediate release tablets) can be separated, broken or cut. Take this medicine as directed by your doctor.

The dosage depends on your medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications you may be taking. Be sure to inform your doctor and pharmacist of all products you use (including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal products). To reduce the risk of side effects (such as upset stomach), your doctor may direct you to start this medication at a low dose and then gradually increase the dose. Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time every day. Follow your diabetes management plan carefully, including medication, diet, and exercise.

Check your blood sugar regularly as directed by your doctor. Follow up the results and share with your doctor. Tell the doctor if your blood glucose measurement is usually too high or too low. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication, exercise plan, or diet.

side effect

See also the warning section.

There may be nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, bloating/gas or weakness. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately. If you have stomach symptoms in the future (a few days or weeks after taking the same dose), please tell your doctor immediately. Stomach symptoms that appear a few days after the start of treatment may be a sign of lactic acidosis.

Remember, your doctor prescribed this medicine because he or she judged that the benefits to you outweigh the risks of side effects. Many people who use this drug do not have serious side effects.

If you have any serious side effects, please tell your doctor immediately, including: joint pain, abnormal blisters, signs of heart failure (such as shortness of breath, ankle/foot swelling, abnormal tiredness, abnormal/sudden weight gain).

If you have any very serious side effects, please seek medical help immediately, including: signs of pancreatitis (such as nausea/vomiting that cannot be stopped, loss of appetite, severe stomach/abdomen/back pain), dark urine, yellow eyes/skin .

Although this medication does not usually cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) by itself, if this medication is prescribed with other diabetes medications, hypoglycemia may occur. Discuss all your diabetes medications with your doctor or pharmacist.

Symptoms of low blood sugar include sudden sweating, trembling, rapid heartbeat, hunger, blurred vision, dizziness, or tingling of hands/foot. It is a good habit to carry glucose tablets or gels to treat hypoglycemia. If you do not have these reliable forms of glucose, use instant sugar (such as table sugar, honey or candy) or drink fruit juice or non-dietary soda to raise blood sugar quickly. Tell your doctor about the reaction immediately. If you drink a lot of alcohol, unusually strenuous exercise, or don't get enough calories from food, you are more likely to have low blood sugar. To help prevent hypoglycemia, eat regularly and don’t skip meals. Discuss with your doctor or pharmacist what to do if you miss a meal.

Symptoms of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) include thirst, increased urination, confusion, drowsiness, flushing, shortness of breath and fruity breath odor. If these symptoms occur, tell your doctor immediately. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication.

Very severe allergic reactions to this drug are rare. However, if you notice any symptoms of a severe allergic reaction, including skin rash, itching/swelling (especially face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, and difficulty breathing, please seek medical help immediately.

This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.
