Diarrhea is common in ZAVESCA and can sometimes be severe. If you experience problems, your healthcare provider may prescribe another medicine (antidiarrheal medicine) to treat diarrhea and may recommend changes to your eating habits, such as avoiding high-carbohydrate foods. If you have diarrhea, talk to your healthcare provider about diet.

Weight loss is common in ZAVESCA and can sometimes be serious. When you start treatment with ZAVESCA, you may lose weight.

Low platelet counts are common in ZAVESCA and can be serious. Your healthcare provider may perform blood tests during ZAVESCA treatment to monitor your platelet count.

The most common side effects of ZAVESCA include:

The chemical name of miglustat is 1,5-(butylimino)-1,5-dideoxy-D-glucitol, the chemical formula is C10H21NO4, and the molecular weight is 219.28.
